The University of Nottingham Philharmonia is a fantastic orchestra made up of staff and students.
If you play an instrument and are a staff member or student at the University of Nottingham or Nottingham Trent University, you are welcome to audition for the Philharmonia. Auditions happen at the start of the Spring and Autumn terms.
Each term, the Philharmonia performs a concert to the public in our award-winning recital hall or the Nottingham Albert Hall. In the past, the Philharmonia has performed alongside world-renowned artists including Xeufei Yang and Amatis Trio.

Every year, we hire Music Trainees to learn the ins and outs of organising concerts for the University Philharmonia. Trainees will be involved in marketing, organising rehearsals, sorting music, and other admin tasks around the large student concerts we put on.

Anyone who is a staff member or student at the University of Nottingham or Nottingham Trent University can audition for the Philharmonia. We do suggest you need to be able to perform at approximately grade 8 ABRSM or higher.
Rehearsals can be fairly intensive and take place on the three weekends leading up to the concert. You will need to attend all of these. Specific dates and times can be found above.
We accept those who perform at approximately grade 8 ABRSM level minimum.
