Neil Brand takes us on a steam-driven journey with surprising and action-packed sequences from classic silent movies.

Writer, pianist, composer and presenter – not to mention a keen railway enthusiast – Neil Brand has been a silent film accompanist for over 30 years, including regular performances at the Barbican and BFI National Film Theatres.

Here Neil discusses railway in film, with piano accompaniment to excerpts of chases, comedy stunts, Phantom Rides, smashes and thrills. The evening will conclude with a full screening of and live accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s The General – one of the most revered comedies of the silent era.

Superbly presented and performed by one of the world’s greatest piano accompanists, this promises to be an unmissable event for the whole family.
