Against the subversive and glittering background of 1920’s Berlin, Lotte Reiniger changed the world of animation and filmmaking forever.
This is the story of the ‘Queen of Silhouettes’, who created the oldest surviving feature length animation, and devised technology that paved the way for much of the pre-digital animation that followed.
Within this flickering world of shadows and light, Akimbo presents a high energy physical theatre biopic with dark political themes, holding an unsettling mirror to events today.
